Right-handed top order batsman Lendl Simmons is a CPL and T20I veteran for the Windies. He is the second highest run-getter in the CPL behind Chris Gayle, has the second most fifties in the tournament and also he is the fourth highest run-getter for the Windies in T20Is.
Simmons played a pivotal role in the Windies winning the World T20 in 2016. He was first ruled out of the tournament, but was drafted to play in the semi-final against India at Wankhede. With just two days to practice in India, Simmons came out and scored at important 82 to take the Windies into the final of the tournament.
In just the year before, Simmons was the top scorer for Mumbai Indians in the India Premier League 2015, taking them to their second title. This will be the first time that Lendl Simmons will play his home franchise Trinbago Knight Riders. Over the course of his CPL career, TKR would be Lendl Simmons’ fifth club that he is playing for. He played most for Guyana Amazon Warriors for whom he has 1029, which is the most for any Guyana player in the CPL.
