Jamaica is buzzing ahead of the Player Draft for the 2015 Limacol Caribbean Premier League, which takes place in Kingston on Thursday.
Some of the biggest names in world cricket are up for grabs when the six teams - the Barbados Tridents, the Guyana Amazon Warriors, the Jamaica Tallawahs, new boys St Kitts and Nevis, the St. Lucia Zouks and the Trinidad & Tobago Red Steel - pick their squads for the 2015 season, due to start in June.
The six teams have already chosen four players to retain from last season (St Kitts and Nevis were able to pick players from the Antigua Hawksbills, who will not be playing at CPL 2015):
BARBADOS: Kieron Pollard ($150,000), Shoaib Malik ($100,000), Dwayne Smith ($80,000) & Ravi Rampaul ($70,000)
GUYANA: Sunil Narine ($150,000), Lendl Simmons ($70,000), Denesh Ramdin ($50,000) & Christopher Barnwell ($30,000)
JAMAICA: Chris Gayle ($150,000), Andre Russell ($80,000), Jerome Taylor ($40,000) & Chadwick Walton ($20,000)
ST. KITTS: Carlos Brathwaite ($40,000), Devon Thomas ($20,000), Orlando Peters ($10,000) & Justin Athanaze ($5,000)
ST. LUCIA: Darren Sammy ($150,000), Kevin Pietersen ($80,000), Johnson Charles ($70,000) & Andre Fletcher ($40,000)
TRINIDAD: Dwayne Bravo ($150,000), Darren Bravo ($80,000), Samuel Badree ($70,000) & Kevon Cooper ($40,000)
Each team will finish with a final playing squad of 16 players, with 11 players chosen on Thursday in the Draft and the final place available going to an Under-19 cricketer (each team will be assigned four local U19 players and one from the ICC Americas membership as part of their training camp squad, and one will be chosen for the final 16).
On Wednesday, the six young players from the Americas were named as Canadian quartet Nitish Kumar, Nikhil Dutta, Satsimranjit Dhindsa and Farhan Malik, American Steven Taylor and Bermudan Christian Burgess. The teams they have been assigned to will be revealed shortly after the Draft.
