A tall right-handed opening batsman, Alex Hales is known for his strong off-side batting. He made his T20I debut in 2011, and in just his fifth innings in that format he scored a match-winning 99 against the Windies, falling one run short of being the first ever English batsman to score a T20I century.
Hales did become the first England player to get a T20I hundred at the 2014 World T20 against eventual champions Sri Lanka. His 116* off 64 balls is the third highest score for any batsman in a World T20.
He took his penchant for big scores into ODIs, he was nominated Man of the Match in both games when England scored 400+. He scored 171 against Pakistan, becoming the first ever English batsman to score over 170 in an ODI, and helping England get their first ever 400+ score in ODIs.
One year later, England scored the highest score in ODIs, 481/6 (2018 vs Australia), Hales batting at three, scoring 147 in just 92 balls.
Alex Hales, who will be playing his first CPL, was the first pick for Barbados Tridents in the 2019 draft.
